0030: We have a situation

0030: Anger fuels Everly’s march to the front of the cell. She wraps her fists around the bars and calls to a guard, “Excuse me. Excuse me.” 

The guard ignores her. Everly wonders how the guard could be so cruel. Why isn't she helping?

Everly’s causing a scene. Everly was taught never to cause a scene. She was a good girl. The one who followed the rules. The one who got into a top university. The one who made up for what had happened to her sister.

Everly keeps yelling. She tries to shake the unmoving bars. The effort causes her body to rickashay. Suddenly she’s outside of her body, sitting with the milkshake buddha, watching herself convulse against the cage. Everly keeps yelling, louder and louder. She’s causing a scene. 

The woman guard finally looks up and whispers into her walkie talkie, “We have a situation.”
